Sydney, Jan 30 (IANS) ANZ Stadium curator Les Burdett expects the pitch to be ready for Wednesday’s Twenty20 International between Australia and India.
The Indians were left disappointed Monday morning during a training session here at the Sydney Olympic Park, which houses the ANZ Stadium, after they found that practice wickets on the outer edge of the ground were soft and slippery after heavy rains that lashed Sydney last week.
Burdett admitted that admitted that practice wickets were underdone but hoped the main pitch to be ready for the game.
“I think this one won’t cause any gremlins. It seems pretty sound to me,” Burdett told reporters.
“I wouldn’t be playing on it today but certainly tomorrow it’ll be ready which means it’s a day early, so if we do get some inclement weather we’re ready to go. “The more we can use our stadiums the better it is for everybody. It’s a no-brainer,” he said.
