Colombo, May 19 (Inditop) The body of Tamil Tigers chief Velupillai Prabhakaran has been found, the Sri Lankan defence ministry said Tuesday. The state-run TV showed the body kept on a stretcher.
Army chief General Sarath Fonseka said the body was found a short while ago, a statement on the defence ministry website said.
According to the website, the leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) “tried to save his life until the last moment”.
“The terror chief’s body was found by the 53 Division troops led by Major General Kamal Goonarathne,” it said.
