Milan (Italy), Jan 25 (IANS) The police in Milan carried out checks at a local office of international rating agency Fitch, media reported Tuesday.

According to the ANSA news agency, an investigation by prosecutors from Trani town in southern Italy was under way against some rating agencies accused of manipulating market with ‘false, unfounded or otherwise imprudent judgements’ on the Italian economic-financial system and banks.

The checks in Fitch office followed those carried out last Thursday in a local office of rating agency Standard & Poor’s, reported Xinhua.
