Sao Paulo, June 4 (IANS) Veteran goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni struck a late penalty to hand Sao Paulo a 3-2 victory over Santos in Brazil’s Serie A championship.

Michel Bastos had given Sao Paulo an early lead at their Morumbi stadium on Wednesday with a 30-meter free-kick that skidded into the bottom corner, reports Xinhua.
Santos striker Ricardo Oliveira had a penalty attempt saved by Rogerio before he fired in the rebound on the stroke of halftime.
The visitors took the lead just after the restart when Oliveira’s low shot slipped through Rogerio’s hands at the near post.
But it took just three minutes for Jonathan Doin to draw Sao Paulo level again with a bullet header from a Thiago Mendes corner.
Rogerio, 42, then made amends for his earlier mistake by coolly converting from the spot after Carlinhos was brought down by Daniel Guedes five minutes from time.
In other matches on Wednesday, Atletico Paranaense beat Figueirense 1-0, Chapecoense overcame Joinville 2-0, Ponte Preta defeated Vasco da Gama 3-0, Atletico Mineiro won 4-1 at Avai, Gremio beat Corinthians 3-1 and Cruzeiro defeated Flamengo 1-0.
