London, Oct 1 (IANS) A gang of five women and three men from Romania has been sentenced to jail for a combined total of 24 years for a string of crimes across Britain.
The gang carried out more than 30 burglaries in just five months, targeting corner shops, the Daily Express reported.
During the raids, members of the gang distracted the shop owner while their living quarters were ransacked.
A court in south Wales heard they snatched 40,000 pounds in cash and jewellery worth 130,000 pounds during their crime spree.
The gang members have been identified as Catalina Chicu, 23, Constantin Lazarica, 26, Viorel Velcu, 34, Ciprian Stavarache, 20, Elena Iordache, 22, Cerasela Mihalache, 26, Loredana Baceanu, 25, and Loreena Belcu, 29.
They were jailed for between two and four years each after admitting conspiracy to burgle.
