Los Angeles, March 7 (IANS) Russell Brand sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a candid conversation about drug addiction on the latter’s talk show.

Brand will be seen sharing information about his former struggles with heroin and how life slowly recovered, in the premiere episode of Oprah Prime, airing Sunday, reports entertainment weekly.
Lindsay Lohan isn’t the only celebrity whose candid battle with the past demons is slated for primetime on the OWN network.
Brand has been sober over a decade and has become a crusader for better public understanding of drug addiction as a disease.
The comedian penned a tribute to his friend Amy Winehouse, after her death from accidental alcohol poisoning.
In the talk show, Brand admits that he’s not the kind of person who drinks occasionally or uses drugs recreationally – no one who suffers from the addiction can.
He also discusses the “seductive idea” saying that a substance abuser can control his habit.
“If anything positive can come out of the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman, it’s that. That his death doesn’t make sense unless you accept that addiction is an illness,” he adds.
