Moscow, Feb 13 (IANS/ITAR -TASS) Moscow will host a meeting of the Russian-Egyptian commission on trade and economic cooperation March 28, according to a joint statement after a meeting of the defence and foreign ministers of the two countries here Thursday.
“During the consultations the ministers in detail discussed prospects for comprehensive development of Russian-Egyptian relations, including promotion of the operation of the Russian-Egyptian commission on trade and economic cooperation,” the statement said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Egyptian caretaker counterpart Nabil Fahmy and Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and his Egyptian caretaker counterpart Abdelfattah Said Elsisi took part in the meeting.
The ministers also decided to speed up preparatory work on intergovernmental agreements on military-technical cooperation.
They focused on pressing international and regional problems and “supported legal aspirations of people of the Middle East and North Africa for a better life, broader political and socio-economic rights, taking into account historical and civilisational peculiarities of each country and the need to observe universally accepted human rights,” according to the statement.
“The ministers confirmed their respect for the principle of state sovereignty, denounced external interference into domestic affairs of any country and called for resolving all existing problems and crisis situations exclusively by peaceful means through broad inclusive dialogue,” it said.
Moreover, all the four ministers condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations irrespective of its motives and emphasised that terrorism should not be associated with any religion, culture or ethnic group.
They also stressed the need for counteracting terrorism, piracy, organised crime, drug trafficking and illegal migration.
