Moscow, March 29 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev has said indigenous animated cartoons and fairytales should be revived and used more often to educate children.
“We don’t need to copy any [foreign] models. We are a unique country… and we have values that no other countries have,” he told a parliamentary hearing.
“I have often been asked… to make sure that our animated cartoons, our fairytales, our heroes, who raised an entire generation, be brought back,” he said.
His position was echoed by children rights commissioner Pavel Astakhov who said Harry Potter was not an example Russian children should be brought up to emulate.
