Moscow, July 2 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russia’s Progress M-11M space freighter Friday readjusted the orbit of the International Space Station by 3.5 km, an official said.
‘The adjustment was conducted by docking and orientation engines of the Progress M-11M cargo spacecraft, which is docked with the Zvezda module.
‘The engines were turned on for about 1,850 seconds and increased the average height of the ISS orbit by 3.5 km, to approximately 380 km,’ the spokesman for Russia’s Mission Control said.
Corrections to the space station’s orbit are conducted periodically before launches of Russian cargo ships and US shuttles to compensate for the Earth’s gravity and to safeguard successful dockings. The previous correction of the station’s orbit was conducted Wednesday.
