Dhaka, April 29 (Inditop.com) Angered by delay in his trial, an accused hurled his sandal at a judge in a courtroom in northeastern Bangladesh’s Sylhet city.
Mohammed Sumon had been appearing before Additional District Judge- III, Mohammed Belayet Ullah, with little progress in the trial. He was charged with robbery in 2006.
Sumon became furious Wednesday when the judge started quizzing him instead of taking up deposition of witnesses as his court was being boycotted by lawyers who have charged him with corruption, a media report said.
After asking the judge why the trial was being delayed, an angry Sumon hurled one of his sandals at the judge.
The court staff and Sylhet District Bar Association President EU Shahidul Islam confirmed the incident.
The Daily Star newspaper did not say whether the judge handed down any punishment to the accused.
