New York, Sep 2 (IANS) World No.1 Serena Williams moved into the US Open last eight after an easy 6-3, 6-3 win over Kaia Kanepi here.

Kanepi was 5-0 in Grand Slam fourth-round matches before Monday’s encounter, but Williams simply proved too strong for her, reports Xinhua.
The first set went smooth on Williams’ side. She won three straight games after 3-3 to end the first set in 31 minutes. The second set was also a breeze as Williams broke her opponent four times to take home the victory.
“It feels good,” said Williams.
“Obviously, I don’t want this to end. But I’m just happy that I’m able to perform a little better at the end of the year.”
Williams will meet 11th-seeded Flavia Pennetta in the quarter-final.
