Islamabad, Dec 18 (Inditop.com) At least seven people were killed and over 20 wounded Friday in a massive blast near the police headquarters in Lower Dir district of Pakistan’s North-West Frontier Province, police said.

The explosion occurred near a mosque in Khurshid police lines in Timar Gira area in Lower Dir, Geo TV reported.

“For now we have received reports from the scene that seven people have been killed and more than 20 are injured,” DPA quoted an official at the district’s main police control room as saying.

He said some of those killed were believed to be policemen. “We are trying to figure out how many of the dead and injured are civilians and how many policemen.”

Over 250 people have been killed in a string of terror attacks, including huge bombings, across Pakistan. The latest wave of violence began in early October. The Pakistani Army is battling the Taliban, which has vowed retaliation.
