Singapore, May 1 (IANS) A Singapore-registered vessel with 25 people on board has been hijacked off the coast of Kenya, officials said.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore said it received a report Saturday that said the chemical tanker MT Gemini was hijacked, Xinhua reported.

The tanker was at approximately 120 nautical miles (222 km) from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania at the time of the incident.

The vessel was on its way from Kuala Tanjung in Indonesia to Mombasa in Kenya, a statement said.
