New Delhi, Feb 2 (Inditop.com) A stall dedicated to spreading awareness about the Right to Information (RTI) is drawing huge crowds at the 19th New Delhi World Book Fair.

The stall in hall number 12A at the Pragati Maidan fair grounds has been set up by the NGO Kabir.

“We have received an amazing response from fair visitors this year. In the last three days, more than 1,000 people have visited our stall to either buy books on RTI Act or to know about the act itself,” Neeraj Kumar of Kabir told Inditop.

“We have already sold more than 250 books on RTI. On Sunday, there was literally a queue to buy the books,” Kumar said.

Priced at Rs.30, the book contains basic information about RTI, how to use it, procedure, sample application, first appeal and second appeal process, details of commissions across India, RTI rules in every states and a list of volunteers at all places.

The NGO also has a DVD (priced at Rs.25) which has small documentaries on the RTI Act. There is also a training manual on RTI in a two CD set.

“The main purpose behind setting up the stall is to make people aware about RTI as a lot of them still don’t know anything about the act. There are several people who come to us to just know about RTI,” Kumar added.

“Some people who have already filed RTI applications but need guidance to counter problems being faced by them also come to us,” he further said.
