London, May 6 (Inditop.com) A woman has sued Starbucks cafe chain in the US for serving “unreasonably hot” tea to her. She claims she got second-degree burns.

Zeynep Inanli, in her claim for unspecified damages in a New York court, said she was served tea that was “unreasonably hot, in containers which were not safe”, The Telegraph reported here Thursday.

Inanli, who was served tea at a Starbucks outlet on Third Avenue in Manhattan, claims she suffered “great physical pain and mental anguish” as well as the burns.

Starbucks has not yet responded publicly to the lawsuit.

There have been similar lawsuits earlier.

A jury in 1994 ordered McDonald’s to pay $2.9 million to a New Mexico woman who claimed she scalded herself with the restaurant’s coffee. The parties later settled.
