Kabul, June 30 (IANS) A suicide car bomber exploded himself near the diplomatic quarter in the Afghan capital on Tuesday, causing casualties, Xinhua said.
The attack occurred in front of Qazi Plaza, a shopping centre, along the Hamid Karzai International Airport road.
“The explosion has caused casualties,” a source told Xinhua.
The Afghan Supreme Court and the US embassy are located near the site of the explosion. “The obvious target of the attack was a foreign convoy moving along the airport road,” a witness said.
Thick black smoke was seen rising at the site. Ambulances and police vehicles rushed to the site.
