Berlin, Aug 31 (IANS) Hoffenheim’s striker Eren Derdiyok returned on loan to his former club Leverkusen.

The Swiss international striker closed the Hoffenheim chapter after just one season as he returned to Leverkusen Friday on a one-year loan deal, reports Xinhua.
“Leverkusen is the right club for me to get started again. I always felt very comfortable, I know the majority of the team and we play in the UEFA Champions League. This is a great challenge. I will give everything to be successful with the club in the upcoming year,” Derdiyok said.
The 25-year-old played from 2009-12 for the ‘Werkself’ to mark 25 goals in 90 games. He has also scored eight goals in 44 caps since 2008 for Switzerland.
“We found a powerful and experienced international striker with Eren Derdiyok. Eren knows the club and staged great games during his time with us. However, he didn’t access his vast potential. That’s why we gave him the opportunity now,” Leverkusen director of sports Rudi Voeller said.
