Cairo, March 31 (DPA) Syrian President Bashar al-Assad Thursday set up a committee to investigate the deaths of protesters who were killed in clashes in the cities of Daraa and Latakia, broadcaster Al Arabiya reported.
Although no official figures have been given, Human Rights Watch says at least 73 protesters were killed in clashes with security forces in recent weeks.
Earlier Thursday Assad, announced he was to set up a separate committee to look into lifting the decades-old emergency law.
