Cape Town, Jan 3 (IANS) Tanzania’s Finance Minister William Mgimwa has died while receiving medical treatment in a Pretoria hospital, the South African government confirmed Thursday.
The 63-year-old died of an illness at the hospital on New Year’s day, reported Xinhua citing the South African finance ministry in a statement.
Mgimwa died of natural causes, said the statement, without revealing about his exact illness. He had been hospitalised for several months.
Mgimwa was appointed finance minister May 7, 2012.
