London, Oct 2 (Inditop.com) Convicted terrorists in Britain will have to notify authorities of where they live and changes of address as well as report any foreign travel plans.

Individuals found guilty of terrorism and terror-related offences will be subjected to notification requirements and foreign travel regulations similar to those that apply to sex offenders, Policing and Security Minister David Hanson said.

The measures, which came into effect Thursday, apply to convicted terrorists who have served a year or more in prison.

“This is one more tool for police to deal with the risk posed by those who have committed serious terrorist offences and those who breach these regulations could face another spell in jail,” Hanson said.

A home ministry press release said terrorists planning on leaving Britain would have to tell police their intended dates of departure and return; the point of arrival in the first country they plan to visit; the carriers they plan to use; and “the address of where they intend to spend their first night”.

A terrorist found breaching the new requirements risks being thrown back into prison for up to five more years.
