Jammu, April 28 (Inditop) A top guerrilla of the Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit was killed Tuesday in a forest gunfight with the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir, a military spokesman said.

Hizbul Mujahideen district commander Mohammed Yousuf was killed in Dera Talab forest area in Kishtwar district, about 230 km northeast of Jammu, the spokesman said.

He said the army laid a cordon around the mountainous forest area Monday evening following an input about presence of militants there.

A gun battle broke out Tuesday morning during which the “terrorist was killed while another was injured”, he said.

The operation was on and the spokesman said “our effort is to catch the injured militant alive”.
