Sanaa, May 29 (IANS) At least two people were killed and up to 60 were injured Sunday in clashes between Yemeni security forces and demonstrators in the southern province of Taiz demanding the ouster of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, eyewitnesses told Xinhua.
The clashes began when the protesters marched towards a police station in Taiz demanding the release of some jailed demonstrators, the eyewitnesses said.
Saleh has been president since 1978. A re-election in 2006 saw him winning the elections yet again. However, amid widespread protests, Saleh has said he would not run for president again in 2013.
