Dubai, July 8 (IANS/WAM) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has lifted a ban on the import of cows from France, Germany and the Netherlands following a recommendation from an international organisation.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) recommended allowing entry of cows from the three European countries provided all import shipments are subjected to veterinary quarantine laws prevailing in the UAE.

The Emirates had imposed a ban on import of cows from countries recognised as having a risk of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) or mad cow disease.
