Abu Dhabi, Jan 31 (IANS/WAM) The United Arab Emirates and Malaysia Monday vowed to strengthen economic ties and discussed ways to promote trade between the two countries.
At a meeting held here between UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna Al Qassimi and Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Mustafa Mohamed, the two leaders showed eagerness to increase Malaysian investments in the new sectors of the UAE economy.
The meeting also discussed the global economic developments, the World Trade Organisation’s negotiations and indications of growth of global trade.
Urging Malaysian businesses and investors to tap the national economy’s potentials and opportunities in Islamic finance and banking, health and education, Sheikha Lubna noted that the total two-way trade exchange between the UAE and Malaysia has increased to over $2.6 billion in the first ten months of 2010.
The Malaysian minister said a delegation of investors and businessmen will visit the UAE in April to discuss new venues and cooperation between the two countries.
