Abu Dhabi, Nov 2 (IANS/WAM) Officials of the US and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have met and discussed ways to combat human trafficking.

Anwar Mohammed Gargash, UAE minister of state for foreign affairs, held a meeting with Luis C. de Baca, ambassador-at-large at the US State Department’s office to monitor and combat trafficking in persons and prepare the US human trafficking report.

Gargash, who is also the chairman of the UAE national committee to combat human trafficking, shed light on the UAE’s strategy in combating the trans-national crime.

He said the country’s strategy was based on four major fronts — legislation, empowerment of competent authorities to combat the crime, rehabilitation and repatriation of victims, and international cooperation.
