Cairo, Nov 2 (IANS) US Secretary of State John Kerry will visit Egypt Sunday for the first time since the ouster of Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi in early July, Xinhua reported Friday.

Kerry’s visit to Egypt will only last several hours, and a delegation preparing for his visit has arrived in Egypt Thursday.
The visit comes a day before the trial of Morsi along with 14 other Muslim Brotherhood leaders over charges of violence and inciting murder.
The US-Egyptian relations have been strained since the ouster of Morsi which Washington refrained from describing as a “military coup”, but decided to review the US aid to the country.
Egypt has been one of the largest recipients of US aid since it signed the peace treaty with Israel.
