Islamabad, May 27 (Inditop): The United States has said that it is ready to broker bilateral talks between India and Pakistan to resolve some of the long pending issues including that of Kashmir.

US Senator Thomas Carper, who is heading a delegation which currently on a visit to Pakistan said Washington is eager to play a role in resumption of Pakistan-India dialogue for resolving all their outstanding issues including the core issue of Kashmir.

The delegation which includes Senator Mark Udall, Jeanne Shaheen, Kay Hagan and Mark Bagich met Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani here, and assured Pakistan of all humanitarian help for the thousands of people who have been displaced and rendered homeless in the Swat Valley due to the military offensive.

It also pledged that the US would assist Pakistan in building its counter insurgency capability to expand their campaign against extremism prevailing in the country, The News reports.

Gilani told the delegation that Pakistan needed much larger support from the international community particularly from the United States to quell insurgency completely and provide relief to the thousands of dislocated in the Swat Valley and other areas of Malakand Division.
