New Delhi, Feb 4 (Inditop.com) Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi, now on an African tour, has been hospitalized in Liberia after a “small car accident”.

According to a personal aide of the minister, Ravi was involved in a “small car accident” about noon in Liberia. He has been hospitalized in the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in the Liberian capital, Monrovia.

He has been declared out of danger, but is still being monitored by doctors, the aide told Inditop.

Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor, who is also in charge of Africa, informed on his Twitter account that initial reports were encouraging on Ravi’s condition, but his evacuation was being arranged if required.

India’s ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire, Shamma Jain, who is concurrently accredited to Liberia, was also injured in the accident.

Ravi is on a trip to Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, Liberia and Nigeria from Jan 29 to Feb 6.
