London, June 16 (IANS) US-based Indian Prakash Amritraj rallied to beat Australian Marinko Matosevic 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 and enter the third round of the Wimbledon qualifiers here Wednesday.
Prakash next plays Australian teenage sensation Bernard Tomic.
Earlier, India No.1 Somdev Devvarman stumbled in the second round of the qualifiers with a 2-6, 7-6 (2), 3-6 loss to American Ryler Deheart.
Third-seeded Somdev, 104th-ranked in the world, was playing 228th-ranked Deheart for the first time.
In the qualifying doubles, the eighth-seeded pair of India’s Harsh Mankad and Ilija Bozoljac of Serbia overcame Brazilian pair Thiago Alves and Joao Souza 6-3, 7-6(5) to set up a second round meeting with Alexander Peya of Austria and German Bjorn Phau.
