Islamabad, June 1 (IANS) President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed ‘deep grief and sorrow’ over the abduction and murder of journalist Saleem Shahzad and ordered an investigation into the killing.
Associated Press of Pakistan reported that the president was determined to ‘bring the culprits to justice’.
Zardari said the government ‘firmly believes in the freedom of media and promotion of democratic values’.
Shahzad, who wrote extensively on radical Islamic groups and on Pakistan and Afghanistan, is widely believed to have been seized by the ISI intelligence agency.
