New Delhi, May 26 (IANS) State-run carrier Air India Wednesday said it will tale two-three days to clear the backlog of passengers caused due to a flash strike by its employees.

‘It may take up to two-and-half to three days for Air India to clear the backlog of passengers and return to normal service,’ Air India chairman-cum-managing director Arvind Jadhav told reporters.

The two-day wildcat strike by some 15,000 employees of Air India was called off Wednesday evening after a Delhi High Court restraining order, even as thousands of domestic and international travellers were left fuming after over 140 flights of the state-run carrier were cancelled or diverted at short notice.

He said: ‘Nearly 13,000 passengers were affected due to the strike. While 4,000-5,000 passengers were stranded, including 600 in Singapore.’

Air India is said to have suffered losses to the tune of Rs.12 crore.

‘The losses to the domestic revenue of Air India is about 30-32 percent, around Rs.12 crore,’ Jadhav said.
