New Delhi, May 26 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday criticised the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance-II (UPA) government’s first year in power, saying Prime Minister Manmohan Singh indulged in ‘falsehood’ on a number of critical issues facing the country.
‘Our economist prime minister indulges in falsehood. What about his promise to bring down inflation in 100 days? It has only increased,’ BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
Prasad Tuesday also accused Manmohan Singh as being ‘conspicuously silent or evasive’ on critical issues relating to the infrastructure sector.
‘Proper growth of infrastructure sector is critical for development and it is indeed surprising that the prime minister in his press conference was conspicuously silent or evasive on critical issues relating to this sector,’said Prasad Monday.
The BJP observed black day Monday, two days after the UPA’s first anniversary in power, and held a demonstration over price rise, the Maoist violence, India’s ‘flawed’ foreign policy and a number of other issues.
‘We will keep fighting and exposing the flaws and faults of the UPA government,’ Prasad added.
