Beijing, May 28 (IANS) China Friday launched an investigation in corruption cases against 15,832 officials, the country’s prosecution agency said.
The ‘work-related crimes’ were committed during the first four months of this year. Among these officials, 970 were at the county level, Xinhua reported citing a statement by the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP).
The investigation focused on corruption and bribery cases in sectors such as construction, real estate, land management and mining, among others, SPP spokesman Bai Quanmin was quoted as saying.
The agency also tried to prevent work-related crimes during the process of transfer and use of charity fund for disaster relief and post-quake reconstruction in Yushu in Qinghai province.
