New Delhi, June 6 (IANS) Television actor Sushant Singh Rajput, better known as Manav of ‘Pavitra Rishta’, says his next step is to go back to college once the series comes to an end.
‘I am not focusing on taking any shows as of now because once I get free from ‘Pavitra Rishta’ I want to get myself enrolled in a film-making course,’ Rajput told IANS in an interview.
‘I want to learn the process that goes behind. I have done theatre with Barry John and Nadira Babbar and assisted director Mohit Suri before but that was just for two months. Now I want to take it up seriously, learn the procedure and then assist for a longer duration.
The actors admits he is not a graduate and left his studies in between.
‘I was studying at the Delhi College of Engineering but was not very serious about it, which could be one of the reasons why I never completed my degree and had a total of 16 re-appear exams,’ he said.
Rajput said entering the world of television was not a difficult task, as he didn’t have to give any auditions.
‘I was performing for the NGO, Cry, at Prithvi theatre where the production team of the show saw my performance and immediately signed me. I was lucky enough as I didn’t have to go through the tortuous phase of giving number of auditions,’ he added.
The 24-year-old says he has a flare for dancing and has practised it professionally under the guidance of choreographer Shiamak Davar.
‘I love dancing and honestly my passion got a definite path when I enrolled myself with Shiamak Davar’s academy. My biggest achievement then was to perform at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne alongside Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai.
‘That was a breath-taking moment for me. The performance was aired and watched in over 250 countries and that was the moment I realized that this is the right platform for me,’ he added.
The actor is currently an active participant on dance reality show ‘Zara Nach ke Dikha’. He earlier featured in Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil’.
‘Pavitra Rishta’ raised a lot of heads when the much in love on-screen couple Manav (Sushant Singh) and Archana (Ankita Lokhande) recently drifted apart, opting for their respective families.
