New Delhi, June 6 (IANS) The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Sunday criticised the government for not condemning Israel over its attack of ships carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza.
‘It is highly regrettable that the (Indian) government has not even condemned Israel by name for this attack,’ it said, adding that the Indian foreign ministry merely regretted ‘the loss of lives and the use of force’.
In a statement issued after a two-day politburo meeting, the party asked New Delhi to ‘work actively with other countries to get the blockade of Gaza lifted’.
Israeli commandos attacked a flotilla of ships carrying humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza, killing nine aid workers and triggering international outrage.
The CPI-M also asked the government to ‘stop all military and security collaboration with Israel as long as it remains in illegal occupation of Palestinian and Arab territories’.
