New Delhi, June 15 (IANS) Suniel Shetty, who plays a pivotal role in ‘Red Alert – The War Within’, says he condemns the increasing Maoist violence but adds that the guerrillas are not terrorists.

Based on a real life story, director Ananth Mahadevan’s ‘Red Alert – The War Within’ is about a farmer, played by Suneil.

‘Naxals are often helpless people who have been exploited, their mineral ores seized and their existence threatened. One cannot just eliminate or deal with them harshly because they are our own people and not terrorists,’ Suniel said in a statement.

‘It is quite disheartening that the Naxal violence has taken such shocking proportions. Violence can only result in violence and the Red Belt is bleeding with violence now. The more we try to get out of this complicated situation, the more we get knotted up,’ he added.

The film, which is slated for a July 9 release, was screened at the South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF) and Suniel was honoured with the best actor award there.

Shot and dubbed in four languages – English, Hindi, Telegu and Chattisgarhi, the film has a planned Bengali version in the pipeline.

SRK asks Karan to shoot ‘Ra.One’

Anubhav Sinha seems to be doing a fine job of directing sci-fi film ‘Ra.One’, but actor-producer Shah Rukh Khan still wants his close friend Karan Johar to take some shots to bring in good luck.

‘Come to London and shoot a few shots for ‘Ra.One’ for luck,’ Shah Rukh posted to Karan on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Karan, who directed his films with Shah Rukh in the lead, replied: ‘Will arrive for sure bhai (brother)… though my action and sci-fi skills are highly questionable!’

In fact, Karan is producing ‘Agneepath’ remake but he will not wield the megaphone for the movie as he doubts his capability of directing an action film.

Chunky gets attacked for playing Elvis Presley

Actor Chunky Pandey, who is set to rock and roll as legendary musician Elvis Presley in ‘Hello Darling’, was recently attacked by a fanatic at a lounge in Pune.

The drunk boy hurled a beer bottle at Chunky, but the bottle went crashing to the ground, says a source close to the actor.

Apparently, the boy was upset that Chunky had got his pictures clicked in Elvis’ garb.

‘I think, the boy wanted attention more than to hurt me physically because his empty bottle broke near me, not on me. He said he was upset with me because I was making fun of Elvis,’ Chunky told IANS.

‘I told the bouncers to leave him alone and assured him that I was playing an Elvis fan, an unsuccessful musician from Ulhas Nagar and not the king himself. That seemed to have cooled him down I guess because the rest of my evening passed off incident-free,’ he added.
