London, June 16 (DPA) India’s Somdev Devvarman stumbled in the second round of the Wimbledon qualifiers with a 2-6, 7-6 (2), 3-6 loss to American Ryler Deheart.

Third-seeded Somdev, 104th-ranked in the world, was playing 228th-ranked Deheart for the first time.

In the qualifying doubles, eighth-seeded pair of India’s Harsh Mankad and Ilija Bozoljac of Serbia overcame Brazilian pair Thiago Alves and Joao Souza 6-3, 7-6(5) to set up a second round meeting with Alexander Peya of Austria and German Bjorn Phau.
