Johannesburg, June 17 (DPA) Argentine coach Diego Maradona issued a public apology Thursday to UEFA president Michel Platini over comments he made about him at a press conference in Pretoria.
‘I wish to publicly apologise to Mr Platini for what I said. He has written a letter to me to say he did not say those things about me,’ Maradona said after his team’s 4-1 victory over South Korea in a World Cup Group B match at Soccer City, Johannesburg.
On Wednesday, Maradona blasted Platini after the former France World Cup star reportedly questioned his coaching credentials.
‘We know how the French are and Platini is French and he believes he’s better than the rest of us,’ the controversial Argentina coach had said.
