New Delhi, June 19 (IANS) The central government is mulling the formation of a committee to address the problems being faced by the states in implementing the right to education act, an official said Saturday.

‘A committee will be formed to address the concerns states come up with,’ an official from the human resource development ministry said, adding the decision was taken at the meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) here after states gave an account of the road-blocks they faced in implementing the act.

The state ministers also pitched for more central grants for the scheme.

‘They have a problem of finance which will be considered,’ Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said.

He, however, added that the states were demanding too much money from the central government.

‘They can’t get the support they seek which is 90 percent of the funds from centre,’ Sibal said, adding the centre-state share will be finalised soon.
