New Delhi, 19 June (IANS) Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar will Sunday inaugurate the 75th conference of presiding officers of legislative bodies at the Jammu and Kashmir assembly.
Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman K. Rahman Khan, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Karia Munda and presiding officers from all legislative bodies in India will attend the two-day conference, according to a release from the speaker’s office.
The conference is being held in Srinagar for the fourth time – after a gap of over 20 years. It was held in Srinagar for the first time in 1954, and then in 1970 and 1987.
Among the issues the conference will discuss are the growing tendency to disrupt the Question Hour and the need to check it and the significance of the committee system and the need to strengthen it.
