Sharjah, June 20 (IANS/WAM) More than 4,800 companies from 150 countries are operating in the emirate’s Hamriyah free trade zone, the customs authority has said.

Rashid Alleem, director general of Ports and Customs department and Hamriyah Free Zone Authority, said Saturday that about eight billion dirhams (about $2 billion) have been invested by these companies.

Sharjah has best infrastructure for setting up industries and for distribution of goods from Asia, Africa and Europe, Alleem said.
