Chennai, June 23 (IANS) International Master Shyamsundar of India and WFM Vo Thi Kim Phung of Vietnam won the boys and girls titles, respectively, in the Asian junior chess championship, here Wednesday. Both Shyamsundar and Phung won the gold medals after the tie-break was employed.
In the boys section, Shyamsundar got past IM Vidit Santosh Gujrati, but both finished on seven points as also Mehar Chinna Reddy.
Phung edged out Nakhbayeva Guliskhan of Kazakhstan following the tie-break after both ended up on 7.5 points apiece.
Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Chess Association felicitated World champion Viswanathan Anand.
