Manali, April 30 (Inditop) Two temples about 200 years old and made of wood were gutted early Thursday in Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh after an electric shortcircuit led to a major fire, an official said.
“The historic temples of Lakshmi Narain and Shiva were reduced to ashes at Manikaran in Kullu,” Deputy Commissioner M. Sudha Devi told Inditop.
No one was injured in the blaze, which also gutted 28 shops, eight houses and three guest houses. “It took more than nine hours for the fire brigade to control the flames,” Sudha Devi said.
Manikaran is known for hot water springs and a Sikh shrine.
