New Delhi, June 26 (IANS) Former Bollywood starlet Monica Bedi, who is the latest to be ousted from Imagine TV’s reality show ‘Desi Girl’, has lashed out against the producers for manipulating the footage of the show and depicting her in bad light.
‘When Rohit (Roy) asked me ‘Till what extent can you go to win the show?’, I had said: ‘Till any extent, but which is dignified and justified’. But on screen, it was only shown as ’till any extent’. That gave a wrong impression about me,’ Monica told IANS over the phone from Mumbai.
The 35-year-old is upset with the way the show has been handled, but clarified that she has nothing against the channel, Imagine TV.
‘Honestly, the reality show does not justify the word reality as there is nothing in the show that one could say is real. The show took a dirty turn when all the other contestant started playing mind games and targeted me as they knew I was a strong contender. They knew if they didn’t pull me out I would win the show,’ Bedi said.
‘Desi Girl’, hosted by popular actor Rohit Roy, started with eight glamour girls – Sambhavna Seth, Kashmera Shah, Roshni Chopra, Monica Bedi, Anmol Singh, Rucha Gujarati, Ishitta Arun and Aushima Sawhney.
Based in Sialba Majri village near Chandigarh city, it is a test for these urban girls to survive the tough village life.
Monica says she could have fought against her elimination, but chose not to, so that the village doesn’t get divided due to their temporary cat fights.
‘I am against the format of the show and the production house BBC who called me up from Mumbai and asked me to leave the show as it was not going according to their will,’ she added.
‘I knew I was the strongest but still I left the show because I knew we girls would eventually leave but the bitterness that was spreading across the village, could have left a deeper impact,’ she said.
After Monica’s walkout, the show is left with three finalists – Kashmera Shah, Ishita Arun and Roshni Chopra.
Monica has acted in films like ‘Pyaar, Ishq Aur Mohabbat’, ‘Jaanam Samjha Karo’, ‘Kaala Samrajya’, ‘Tirchhi Topiwale’ and ‘Jodi No.1’. She has also featured on reality shows like ‘Bigg Boss’ and ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’.
