Mumbai, June 28 (IANS) A key index for Indian equities Monday closed near its intra-day high, with oil and Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) scrips gaining the most.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,577.66 points, ended at 17,770.96 points (provisional), 196.43 points or 1.1 percent up from its previous close at 17,574.53 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty closed at 5,333.95 points, up 1.23 percent from its previous close at 5,269.05 points.
Broader markets indices too were in the green with the BSE midcap index closing 1.2 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index 1.1 percent up.
