Ranchi, July 1 (IANS) Four Maoists were Thursday arrested in Jharkhand as a two-day strike called by the guerrillas affected life in rural areas.
According to police, three members of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) were arrested from a jungle area of Giridih district, some 190 km from Ranchi.
Police seized two rifles and live cartridges from the rebels. Another Maoist was arrested from Giddi village of Hazaribagh district.
The strike, which ended Thursday, affected lives in rural areas, with train and road transport hit in varying degrees. Mining activity was also affected.
Maoists called the protest in Jharkhand, Bihar, Orissa, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal.
