Kurukshetra (Haryana), July 1 (IANS) Police Thursday said they had arrested seven members of a Bangladeshi gang, involved in various cases of robberies and looting, from this Haryana town.
According to police, the gang was active in the state for the last few months and on June, 19 six Bangladeshis, who were also part of the same gang, were arrested from the state’s Ambala town.
‘Police have recovered a huge quantity of ammunition from the possession of these 13 Bangladeshis arrested at Ambala and Kurukshetra. Mohamad Kabir alias Mohamad Ebrahim is the leader of the gang arrested at Ambala and Mohamad Abu Eshaak is the leader of the gang arrested at Kurukshetra,’ a police spokesperson said.
He said the arrested accused have admitted their involvement in various crimes in Ambala. ‘In the meantime, police trying to identify those local residents who were giving shelter to these arrested accused. We will also check their visa documents and passports.’
Ambala town is around 35 km from Chandigarh whereas Kurukshetra town is some 90 km away.
