Beijing, July 2 (IANS) China Friday raised its growth estimate for 2009 to 9.1 percent from 8.7 percent announced earlier, signifying a stronger economic recovery from the global downturn.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate in 2009 had been modified up to 9.1 percent from 8.7 percent announced in January, according to the official Xinhua news agency.
NBS said the GDP hit 34.0507 trillion yuan ($5.296 trillion), up 515.4 billion yuan ($76 billion) from the previous figure.
It said the latest figure was the result of a review of more data gathered since its previous announcement.
After the GDP revision, NBS said the primary industry was 3.522 trillion yuan ($520 billion), down 25.1 billion yuan ($3.7 billion) from the earlier calculation.
The secondary industry reached 15.7639 trillion yuan ($2.33 trillion), up 9.9 percent from a year earlier. The growth was 0.4 percentage point higher than the previous figure.
The tertiary industry grew to 14.7642 trillion yuan ($2.18 trillion) by 9.3 percent, 0.4 percentage point higher than the earlier report.
