Lahore, July 5 (IANS) Seven people were arrested in Lahore Sunday after a shooting incident near the Data Ganj Baksh shrine where two suicide bombers killed at least 42 people and injured 175 on July 1, police said.

Anti-terror police force conducted a search operation and raided hotels and markets near the shrine. They arrested seven men, including an Afghan national, who were later taken to an undisclosed location for questioning, Xinhua reported citing police sources.

Police cordoned off the area after receiving reports of shooting. The firing near the shrine continued for more than three minutes as police evacuated the area, ARY NEWS reported.

Television footage showed police fired in the air before the arrests and later dragged the suspects into police vehicles.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was scheduled to visit the shrine Sunday, but did not arrive till late in the evening, Geo News reported.
