London, July 7 (IANS) Night shift workers at auto giant Mercedez-Benz plants in Germany have been allowed to watch on television the World Cup semi-final between Germany and Spain.

German car company Daimler, the owner of Mercedes-Benz, has decided to let workers at one of the country’s biggest factories join the nation in the streets and bars to watch the game, The Telegraph reported Wednesday.

The plant, in southwest Germany, employs 30,000 people.

‘In all of our factories, the working hours of our staff will be tweaked or organised so that our employees have the chance to watch the semi-final,’ Daimler said in a statement.

At Sindelfingen, the evening shift will end at 7.30 p.m. instead of 10 p.m., with the night shift starting at 1 a.m. instead of the usual 10 p.m.

The match, in South Africa, begins at 8.30 p.m. in Germany.
